Origin
The door that outlived the temple
On the islet of Palatia, at the mouth of Naxos harbour, a marble doorway stands alone against the sea. It was raised around 530 BC on the order of the tyrant Lygdamis, who intended the largest temple in the Aegean. Its blocks — some weighing twenty tonnes — were cut at Flerio and hauled ten kilometres to the shore.
He fell from power around 524 BC and the work stopped. The columns were never raised. The roof was never closed. Every other stone was carried away over the centuries and built into something else.
The doorway is still there. Two and a half thousand years of weather, war and quarrying, and the one part nobody could move — or bring themselves to take — was the door.
The Greeks call it Portara — the great door. We took the name because it sets the standard we are measured against: the entrance should be the part of the building that lasts.

Our aluminium doors are built on the Aluprof MB-86N thermally broken system and manufactured for Portara in Europe. We name the system because you should be able to look it up — a door described only as "premium aluminium" tells you nothing about what is holding it together.
Fitting is carried out by a FENSA or Certass registered installer who holds their own public liability cover. Where a new or enlarged opening is formed, your installer will notify Building Control — self-certification schemes cover replacements into existing openings only.

Yes — it’s a genuine guide price for the configuration you choose, supplied and fitted. Your final fixed quote is confirmed after the free survey, and it only changes if the measured sizes or specification change.
Replacing an external door doesn’t normally need planning permission. Building regulations do apply — and we handle that for you: our installers self-certify the work and you receive the certificate automatically.
The door leaf, frame and factory finish for 5 years — explicitly including pivot and oversized formats, which many premium brands exclude in the small print, and which is the part that actually matters on a door this size. Glazing and hardware carry their own cover, and installation workmanship is guaranteed separately by our local team.
