What this website is
Portara designs and supplies architectural doors. We do not survey, install or contract with homeowners. When you send an enquiry, we pass it to an approved installer covering your postcode. That installer quotes you, contracts with you, takes your payment and fits the door in their own name. Your contract for the supply and installation of the door is with them, not with us.
Guide prices
Prices shown by the estimator on this website are guide prices. They are indicative, based on the options you selected, and include VAT and standard installation. They are not a quotation and they do not create a contract.
A price becomes firm only when your installer has surveyed the opening and issued a written quotation. The final figure can differ where the survey reveals something the estimator cannot know — for example the condition or size of the existing opening, access to the property, structural work, making good, or scaffolding.
Product warranty
Portara warrants the door frame, leaf and factory-applied finish for five years from delivery, registered in the end customer's name. The warranty covers manufacturing defects. It does not cover damage caused by incorrect installation, by failure to follow our fixing and sealing detail, by accidental damage, by inappropriate cleaning products, or by normal wear to moving parts and seals beyond their stated life.
Installation workmanship is warranted by your installer under their own terms and, where applicable, their FENSA or Certass registration.
Building regulations
Replacing a door in an existing opening in England and Wales can be self-certified by a FENSA or Certass registered installer. Forming a new opening, enlarging an existing one, or work in Scotland or Northern Ireland, is not covered by those schemes and requires notification to Building Control. Your installer is responsible for telling you which applies to your project and for arranging the necessary certification.
Using this website
You may use this site for your own purposes in connection with buying doors. You may not copy, republish or use our text, images, drawings, model names or price data for any commercial purpose without our written permission.
The names Portara, Belgrave, Hampstead, Marlow, Shoreditch, Richmond and Chiltern, and the Portara Signature Glass specification, are used by us as brand and model names.
Accuracy
We take care to keep specifications, dimensions and prices accurate, but the site is provided on an "as is" basis. Visualisations are indicative — colours, finishes and glass appearance vary with light, screen calibration and manufacturing tolerance. Where an obvious pricing or specification error appears, we are not obliged to supply on those terms.
Our liability
Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else which cannot lawfully be limited. Subject to that, we are not liable for loss arising from your reliance on a guide price, or for any loss that is not a foreseeable result of our supplying a defective product.
These terms do not affect your statutory rights as a consumer against the installer who sells you the door.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland you may also bring proceedings in your own courts.
